Swaziland, one of the smallest countries in Africa, has a reputation for friendliness in Southern Africa. Compared to other countries in the region, Swaziland is known for its civility and peacefulness, despite similar problems with poverty and one of the world's worst AIDS crises.
Swaziland is a breath of fresh air after travelling through South Africa. It is a complete change of pace, especially if you spend time in the countryside, away from Mbabane and Manzini. It is the smallest country in the southern hemisphere, but it has a big heart despite its depressed economy.
Swaziland can be done in 2 or 3 days, but it has enough on offer to stay at least a week.
| The capital, Mbabane, lies at the northern end of the lush Ezulwini Valley: a small, unpretentious town that caters well for tourists. In Mbabane itself there is not much to see or do, but the best craft shops and atractions are found in the nearby Ezulwini Valley. |

Among the country's other main attractions are Mlilwane, a well-established game sanctuary; the magnificent Mantenga Falls; the casino resort of Piggs Peak; and the annual ceremony of the reed dances at the Royal Kraal in Lebombo on the country's eastern border.
Swaziland is also known for its exquisite arts and crafts and its breathtaking scenery, especially in the western highlands, which rise to more than 6,000 feet (1,829m), riven with abundant rivers, waterfalls and forested gorges.
Wildlife watching, superb hiking, horse riding, climbing, friendly people, the laid-back ambience, the stunning panoramas and the traditional culture, still very much alive, are the country’s major tourist attractions.
