Caledon, Overberg, Western Cape

This two bedroom cottage is situated on a working farm between Caledon & Villiersdorp, overlooking rolling Wheatfield’s and beautiful mountain views. It is conveniently located just about an hour from Cape Town; if you just need a short break from the hustle and bustle.

The cottage is fully equipped and all towels and linen are supplied. Kitchen appliances include microwave, toaster, kettle, a fridge, 4 plate stove top and much more. The bedrooms; one double and one twin bedded are both equipped with under floor heating. An indoor fireplace/braai gives a warm at home feeling to the cottage. The outside braai cater for relaxing times in the mild summer evenings. The bathroom with a heater fan has a shower and a bath. A big outdoor patio promises hours of fun in the sun and in nature. On the farm there is just one word to describe it ……….. relaxation.

The farm offers beautiful scenic views as far as Hawston Bay. July to September you can view the rolling Green Wheatfield’s and from October be sure to capture golden moments as the wheat turn into glorious shades of gold. Not to forget the bright yellow patches of Canola Fields in August to October. Enjoy hiking in the field and according to botanists you will find almost a 100 fynbos species on the farm. Do not forget to bring your mountain bike, you might be lucky to spot a couple of Blue Cranes while exploring the farm.

On prior arrangement you can also order a picnic basket, do a farm tour, enjoy a boat trip on the river or try to catch fresh water fish for the braai. Experience various farm activities during different times of the year including harvesting and sheep shearing. The area is a birdwatchers paradise so do remember to bring your binoculars with.

Scenic drives to the neighboring towns of Caledon/Villiersdorp/Genadendal/ Greyton / Hermanus is also an option, all can be reached within an hour. Other activities in the area:
Big Time - Try your luck at the Caledon Casino or relax at the spa
Take a Southern Right -Just a 30 minute drive from Hermanus for Whale watching (July till September)
Hole in one - The nearby Theewaterskloof Golf course offer a good challenge.
Touch of class - Visit one of the nearby cellars for superb wines from the Overberg Region.
Wine & dine - Some excellent restaurants available in all the nearby towns.
Step back into time - Visit the oldest Moravian Mission Station in Genadendal.
Tip of Africa - Heading for the Southernmost Tip of Africa at L’Agulhas.
