Die Laaitjie

Robertson, Western Cape, South Africa

Grading:

A long, scenic gravel road leads to Die Laaitjie, a 330 Ha working farm that produces fruit and wine in the hand-crafted 'methode ancienne' manner. The farm is situated alone in a bowl made by the surrounding mountains. 25 Ha of the farm consists of peach, pear and apricot trees, all of which fill the valley with colourful blossoms during the spring months.

The mountains themselves are criss-crossed with hiking, walking and horse-riding trails suitable for all levels of expertise. Enjoy a gentle stroll to the river before breakfast, or spend a whole day exploring the ravines. Horse-trailing can be arranged in conjunction with a neighbouring farm specialising in horses.

The Main House is a mid-Victorian farmhouse. Recently renovated stylishly, it now has four double bedrooms, all en-suite, each with access to a terrace.
There is a large kitchen, two sitting rooms, television room (with large TV and DVD player - note no satelite TV), i-Pod docking station, CD player, dining room, and a covered dining terrace with built in barbecue area. The kitchen has all modern machinery fitted, and there are two fireplaces inside the house.

There is a swimming pool which is an extension of a terrace adjoining the living room. The garden has many mature oak trees, and is surrounded by a curved dam. The walled kitchen garden is next to the house, and you are welcome to pick your own vegetables there.

Unfortunately we do not allow children under 16 in this house, due to the large bodies of water that are immediately adjacent to the house and garden.

The Cottages are better suited to those with children as they are not near the dams and their swimming pool is fenced.
There is a small 2 sleeper cottage overlooking a dam, as well as three newly renovated cottages, each with two double bedrooms.

The style of all these houses is simple and monastic, mostly decorated in an all-white, serene manner. All the houses have stoeps, an internal fireplace, as well as an external braai. There is also a communal swimming pool in the orchards, with a surrounding deck area.

- Rondavels from R350 per person per night
- Main House from R650 per person per night.

- Breakfast and dinner upon request, charged seperately.
- Wireless internet access vouchers can be purchased from the management on site.
- Minimum booking of 2 nights.
