Hoedspruit, Valley of the Olifants, Limpopo

Panzi Bushcamp (the local word for 'down below' or 'on the ground') is a charming 16 bed camp, situated in a wooded gully in the Guernsey Private Nature Reserve near Kruger Park's Orpen Gate in Limpopo which is only a 45 minutes drive. Phalaborwa Gate is only an hour and half drive.

Panzi is ideally located for those wanting to explore the area's many attractions, such as the Panorama Route, Blyde River Canyon, Moholoholo Rehabilitation Centre and the Hoedspruit Cheetah Project. Panzi is a great stopover point for people entering Mozambique through the Giriyondo border post.

The thatched A-frame cottages, the rooms joined by wooden walkways which meander through the indigenous bush, have en-suite toilet and shower and each has a private balcony. A refreshing swim in the camp's rock pool will prepare you for a peaceful night. Enjoy a delicious African dinner before settling into your thatched hut for the evening. Fans, mosquito nets and three-quarter beds add to your comfort. Let the sounds of the African night lull you to sleep.

The reserve has a variety of plains game, including giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, buffalo and impala, as well as smaller nocturnal game such as genet, civet, porcupine and honey badger. The camp waterhole is popular with the animals (and the guests), and a viewing deck gives lovely views of the waterhole and the Drakensberg Mountains.

Game drives, both in Panzi and to a neighbouring reserve can be arranged. The best time of year for game viewing in the Lowveld is May - September. The summer months are best for birds, reptiles, insects and trees.
