In an old farmstead evoking the pioneer history and rural charm of the Soutpansberg,Khaya Guest House offers three en suite rooms with several catering options (including full catering).
Bloukuifloerie offers: 1 double bed and 1 single bed a shower and a bath
Bosloerie offers: 1 double bed and 1 single bed a shower
Vleiloerie offers: 3 single beds - 2 of which convert into a king size bed a shower and a bath
Konkoit Cottage is a lovely self-catering pioneer cottage (30m from the house) with reed ceilings and rustic decor. It gets its name from the Afrikaans name for Gorgeous Bush Shrike. It offers: a kitchenette 2 single beds (which can be converted into a king size bed) a shower.
Skaapkraal is a renovated dwelling furnished with farmhouse antiques and decorated with African art from the region. The large open plan lounge and dining area offer a stunning view across the Welgevonden valley, and a clay firepot, made locally by Venda women, offers cosy warmth on chilly winter evenings. It is ideal for a large family or group of friends.

A large sub-tropical garden offers good birding and ample opportunity for relaxation. Birding, hiking and horse trails leading from the guest house traverse scenic landscapes and a diversity of habitats. One of the best birding spots in the Soutpansberg, Roodewal Forestry Reserve, is adjacent to the property. This reserve, with its semi-deciduous scrub-forest, is habitat to some of the regions specials like African Broadbill, Green Twinspot, Yellow-spotted Nicator, Crested Guineafowl, Narina Trogon, Gorgeous Bush Shrike and breeding African Crowned Eagle.
Directions to Khaya Guest House
Travel with the N1 from Pietersburg (Polokwane) to Louis Trichardt. When you reach Louis Trichardt, turn right at the second stop street on the N1 this is the R524 route to Levubu / Thohoyandou / Punda Maria. From the N1: Travel for ± 16,5 km on the R524, just after a saw mill on your right, find a dirt road that slips off to your left on a bend in the tar road at a sign post: WELGEVONDEN (written in big red letters on a white board) with Khayas sign board underneath. Travel for ± 2 km on this dirt road; find Khaya Guest House on your right.
