This grand Scottburgh home has been converted into a welcoming retreat for business people and holiday makers alike. Six double bedrooms all with their own bathrooms set in ½ an acre of picturesque, tranquil garden facing the indian ocean. We have a unique dining area, looking over the sea, serving tasty breakfasts and dinners. During the winter months one can also spot whales.

All the facilities of Sandpiper cottages are available to you. Once you have stayed and been spoilt at Ambercrest Lodge, you will not want to leave or will definitely want to return as soon as possible. We cater for business people as there are desks in the rooms as well as internet access. Conference facilities are available at Sandpiper Cottages for 30.

Our rates are reasonable and we have weekly out of season specials. On request for overseas visitors we can arrange daily tours to the Wild Coast Casino, Oribi Gorge, The Banana Express and various small Nature Reserves. 3 to 5 day tours include - The Eastern Cape Transkei Coast, Zululand Game Reserves, The Drakensberg including Sani Pass and the Midlands Meander.

We have a large swimming pool with the games room on it's edge with Pool Tables, Table tennis and a dart board. Or try your hand at bowls on the full length bowling green on the premises. If you've played before - here your chance. In the future you can look forward to mini golf. With 4 golf courses in close proximity and a 5min walk to Scottburgh Golf Course, Sandpiper / Ambercrest is the perfect place for golfers and their families. The golf courses in the area includes Selbourne Estates' famous 18 holes and Umdoni Golf Club a short drive away in Pennington. Umkomaas Golf Course is approx. a 15min drive away. Most notably would be Scottburgh Golf Course a short walk from us. A magnificent 18 hole course with sea views on almost all the holes and a fantastic club house.

Aliwal Shoal is a world renowned dive site in the indian ocean about 4km offshore. The shoal attracts hundereds of vistors to it's wrecks, caves and famous raggies (raggatooth shark), who congregate in large numbers during the late winter months to mate. Our resort is the perfect place to stay while explorering Aliwal Shoal. There are many dive charters in Scottburgh and Umkomaas, assisting both seasoned divers and people new to the sport. We will be able to assist in chosing the right charter for your needs.

For that special night out there are many wonderful restaurants close by and for a morning or afternoon treat try one of the numerous coffee shops and tea gardens in the area. Or stay with us and enjoy a tasty breakfast or the daily home cooked supper at Ambercrest. The local nightlife is especially exciting during the Christmas break with events being orginised on the main beach. Otherwise enjoy one of the many pubs or restaurants after dark.

The local beach is a 5min walk from our gate while the main beach is 15 min away and is renowned for it's grassed terraces and safe bathing with life guards on duty 7am to 5pm. There is also a supertube, miniature railway, putt-putt and a large salt-water swimming pool and kiddies pool. Other beaches in the area include Rocky Bay with it's excellent snorkeling and rock pools, Kelso beach with a restaurant and pub and Pennington beach. The area is renowned for it's great surf with Green Point being a must for experienced surfers.
