Capital House is located in the diplomatic enclave of Pretoria, the capital city of South Africa. This area is considered to be the safest and most beautiful residential area in the city. We are close to the two major retail shopping malls and even closer to small shops, restaurants and golf courses.
This elegant establishment was one of the first guest houses in Pretoria. Over the years it has been selected by heads of state, diplomats and business men as their residence of choice in South Africa. In 1997, the owners left to go overseas; for the next nine years, the guest house became the home to three successive Ambassadors from Ireland to the republic of South Africa. It remained the Irish Ambassador’s residence until February, of 2006 when the owners returned to Pretoria. After returning, they proceeded to update the existing residence. Now all the latest technology has been incorporated as well as the most modern fittings for your comfort and convenience. The guest house has been upgraded to a boutique hotel.
Our very luxurious residence has all the grace and style of a grand, but unpretentious manor home or inn. It has every modern amenity one could hope for. As the house was built as a private home, there are a variety of sizes and shapes to both the guest rooms and relaxation area. The exterior has an exquisite swimming pool. It is long enough to do laps the health conscious or quiet enough to jut relax on deck chairs with a cocktail. This is the ideal setting for the more indulgent.
One can stay in room 1. This is the lovely large room used by the President of Ireland on her two visits to South Africa. It has a large balcony with a panoramic view of Pretoria, shown above; Other features include a deep walk-in closet which can easily accommodate a long-term resident’s wardrobe, an extra large king sized bed, a partner’s desk and a bathroom with both tub and shower.
The owners’ suite is a huge area of 140 Sq. Meters (+/- 1,400 square feet). It has 2 bedrooms, two bathrooms and a sitting room/office. This area can comfortably accommodate a person wishing to live for months at a time.
Other bedrooms cater to the business traveler or diplomat, who are our top priority. Business needs are catered to at every level. Our business rooms are decorated with unfussy elegance and classic simplicity. These rooms have king or queen sized beds with new, top quality mattresses and elegant high-thread count sheets. Each room has a large desk. They enjoy climate control, good lighting, high pressure showers, deep baths and several have private gardens or balconies. The rooms are very quiet. The entire property has wi-fi and there is DSTV cable to every bedroom.
A sumptuous breakfast is served in the dining room at the long table, providing an opportunity to meet people from all over the world. Alternatively, one can eat in the privacy of one’s room, or on one of several terraces or balconies. Snacks and other meals are easily available on request, and the cookie jar is always full. Our kitchen can produce elaborate meals or more casual coffee and teas.
For business functions we have projectors, white boards and all the necessary projection equipment to make your conference world-class.
