Rated 4-star by the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa, Willy's Chateau offers both Bed & Breakfast and self-catering accommodation in comfortable, en-suite rooms - all furnished to the highest standards. Please note that self catering units are available for a minimum of three nights only.
The Hamburg Suite is available as a Bed and Breakfast or a self-catering unit. Lalakahle, under thatch, are Bed and Breakfast units only.
The cottage, Le Chalet, built overlooking the pool area, is a very versatile unit and can be occupied by up to four people. Its two units, Le Chalet Gourmet and Le Chalet Petit, with double interleading doors, will allow you to be together, should you wish. Or it can be converted to completely separate units.
Le Chalet Petit is offered separately as a bed and breakfast unit only, while Le Chalet Gourmet is available as a self-catering unit or as a bed and breakfast unit. When combined, they become a very luxurious one-bedroom suite, with two separate bathrooms (each comprising shower, bath and toilet), lounge, and open plan kitchen. As described above, an additional person (or persons) can use the lounge (in the Le Gourmet section) as an extra sleeping space, but without the couch.
All units, whether self-catering or not, have tea/coffee-making facilities, and feature radio, satellite TV, telephone and Internet.
Cold platters can be made available in rooms by prior arrangement. Special meals will be prepared on request. Breakfasts are served in our in-house restaurant and bar, Legere Stube. Our breakfasts are legendary, and besides the usual cereals, yoghurt and fruits, juices, and teas, there is proper "German-style" filter coffee, very different cold meats and cheeses, and a cooked breakfast that changes daily, depending on the seasonal availability of produce. We like to surprise you!
Guests are also welcome to make use of the Legere Stube for lunch and dinner, by prior arrangement, where you may choose from an a la carte menu.
Situated in the historic suburb of Kensington, to the east of Johannesburg, Willy's Chateau is ideal for both tourist and business travellers. Just off the main highway link to the Oliver Tambo International Airport, the Johannesburg Central Business District, the Sandton and East Rand business districts, it is convenient for travellers going to the Kruger National Park, Durban, or Cape Town by road.
For those interested in sport, whether in participating or spectating, there are numerous sporting stadiums (Ellis Park, Johannesburg Stadium, Standard Bank Arena, Wanderers, etc.) and golf courses (Observatory, Glendower, Royal Johannesburg and Kensington, Killarney Golf Club, etc. within easy reach - and for the really energetic, there is a Virgin Active&Planet Fitness Health Club just minutes away.
For the shopaholics, Eastgate, one of the largest shopping malls in South Africa and the newly-renovated Bedford Centre, are just around the corner, as is the ethnic flea market at Bruma Lake, and the arty antiques and crafts mecca of Queen Street.
