Overnight in the scenic town of Ficksburg, at the gateway to the Maloti Mountians. The Green Acorn Guest house is centrally situated on the MALOTLI ROUTE, an exciting and innovative initiative that spans the borders between South Africa and the mountain kinqdom of Lesotho. The Route covers substantial areas of Lesotho the Eastern Cape and the Eastern Free State, opening up this scenic region and enriching the experiences of all who travel this way The Maloti Route provides travellers with on unparalleled opportunity to experience a diversity of cultures including Basotho, English, Xhosa and Afrikaans. It also provides an opportunity to contrast the two countries, which have very different histories, but are so intertwined geographically and culturally as to be committed to each other for the benefit of the entire region.
Eight Cottages and a rondawel are set in a tranquil private garden.
The Garden Cottage, with a bay window overlooking a small pond, contains a double bed, a single bed & a window seat (big enough for a child to sleep on); Victorian bath, shower, hand basin & toilet. A very popular room! Rates:R430 for 2 people sharing (+R100 for extra person above 12 + R60 per child); R285 p/p non-sharing.
The Sandstone Cottage has an open plan bedroom-bathroom, this sandstone & rusted iron look room has an atmosphere of romance. A fold-up screen provides privacy in the bathroom area for those who require it. This room has a comfortable double bed, bath, shower, hand-basin, toilet & small fridge.

The Violet Room is comfortable and contains a double & a single bed, small fridge and en-suite bathroom with small bath, shower, hand-basin & toilet. This room shares a verandah with the Lavender room.

The Lavender Room, is next to the Violet room and is a little smaller with twin beds, an en-suite shower, hand-basin & toilet.

The Thatched Rondavel, cozy but cool with an African touch, contains a double bed, shower, hand-basin, toilet & small fridge.

The 2 Garden Rooms (Shell & Ivy) are situated at the far end of the garden.
Shell Room has a double bed, shower, hand-basin & toilet.

Ivy Room has a double bunk and a single bed with shower, hand-basin and toilet.
Rates:R425 for 3 people sharing; R330 for 2 people sharing & R235 p/p non-sharing.
The 2 Bachelor Rooms, situated behind the main building, each contain a 3/4 single bed with shower, hand-basin and toilet. Rates:R220 per person
The Lily-of-the-Valley Room, with an old fashioned look, is situated in the main house. It has a double bed and en-suite bathroom with bath, shower, hand-basin and toilet.

All rooms are equipped with towels, an electric kettle, tea, coffee and TV. Oil heaters and electric blankets are provided during the winter. Guests' cars may be parked on the property, and for security reasons, the gate is locked at night.
We have restaurants facilities on our premises where you can order (timeously) a home-cooked 3 course dinner for R85.oo per person OR you can have light meals fromour menu. The Green Acorn is famous for its lovely breakfasts that should keep you filled until dinnertime! We are willing to adapt to your likes and dislikes.
