Lying in the heart of the Sneeuberg mountains, Doornberg Guest Farm is situated 60 km from Graaff-Reinet and just outside Nieu Bethesda with it’s well known Owl House. The charming village is so secluded that development took a back seat leaving a rare historical integrity. It has become a popular retreat for artists and because of its unique appeal, this is a place no visitor should miss.
Relax, soak up the sun, enjoy the peace and quiet of the Karoo. Go bird watching, game viewing or just…… curl up in front of a log fire on a cold winter evening. This Family farm has been farmed for 5 generations over 125 years. 200 year-old oaks surround the homestead and numerous fountains and streams give one a sense of peace and tranquility. The farm with its gracious hospitality and friendly staff is reminiscent of days of yesterday.
Doornberg Guest Farm offers accommodation in a fully equipped guest house, a stable flat, Rondavel or in thebeautifully renovated Vlei cottage. All units are serviced daily, bedding and towels are provided but bring your own swimming towels.
The Guest House sleeps 10 in 4 bedrooms, has 2 bathrooms, a big fully equipped kitchen, dining room and a lounge with fire place.
The Stable Flat is a bachelor flat with en-suite bathroom with shower, kitchenette, a double bed and 2 single beds (or 3) and a Queen Anne wood stove for cold winter evenings.
The Rondavel sleeps 3 - 4, 1 double and 1 single bed (or 2), has an en-suite bathroom, a 2 plate stove and bar fridge and a fire place.
Vleihuisie is a secluded restored stone cottage, S/C with beautiful mountain views 4km from the mainhouse.
It sleeps 3 - 4,bedroom -double and1 or 2 single beds. Open plan living/kitchen with fireplace.
Accommodation is on B&B or Self Catering basis, light evening meal / braaipack on request. Tea room and pub meals / restaurant are available in the village. Braai facilities are provided.
Activities on the farm: horse riding, trampoline, swimming pool, mountain biking, pool table, tennis court, bird watching, walking trails, game drives and farming activities (get involved).
RATES R140 per person sharing, but Vleicottage R170 pp per person sharing.
