WHERE GOOD FRIENDS MEET - Club Areena Riverside Resort is one of the best-kept secrets on South Africas East Coast.



Areena Riverside Resort is situated on the banks of the Kwelera tidal river, 23 km's east of East London city centre, at the beginning of the Cape Wild Coast. The dream of Ed and Karen Rathbone to have a unique family resort became a reality some 23 years ago and soon grew from strength to strength. After a lot of hard work and dedication, the Caravan Park en Camping was voted S.A. Top Resort 2004, after gaining public interest and became the hideout for those wanting to experience quality family time in the heart of nature.



Areena Riverside Resort offers 3 Star self catering accommodation, which consists of lovely thatched rondavels, luxury cottages and timber chalets, as well as 150 well grassed, shady and serviced caravan sites. All of which have 15-20 amp electrical outlets and water taps at each sites. Our accommodation sleeps a maximum of 6 persons, with the exception of our three bedroom cottages, which sleeps eight people. Small dogs at an additional fee may be allowed by application only.



RONDAVELS: Rondavels are modern and comfortably furnished. Open plan with 4 beds on a loft with double bed down stairs. Full bathroom. Kitchenette. Private braai area. Centrally situated in the Resort next to split level pool. Fully equipped with fridge-freezer, oven, toaster, kettle, plates, pots, crockery,cutlery, etc.

COTTAGES: Five Cottages, two and three bedrooms, which are all beautifully furnished Individual bedrooms rooms sleeping up to 6 persons excepting for cottages 2 and 3 which sleep 8 and 10 persons respectfully. Lounge and open plan kitchen, fully equipped with fridge-freezer, oven, microwave, toaster, kettle, plates, pots, crockery,cutlery etc. Full bathrooms, some with showers. Private built in braai areas Cottage 4 and 5 have en-suite bathrooms, with additional loft bedrooms upstairs, for the kids. Cottage 2 and 3 have TV's with DSTV  bring your own simcard

COTTAGE 1/4/5 - R 700.00 per day COTTAGE 2 and 3 - R 800.00 per day



TIMBER CHALETS: Two Timber Chalets are situated up river from resort along the riverbank. All beautifully furnished. Open plan lounge and kitchen, fully equipped with fridge-freezer, oven, microwave, toaster, kettle, plates, pots, crockery, cutlery etc. Sleeps 4. One double and two single. Full bathroom. Private Deck and garden braai area

TIMBER CHALET 1 and 2 - R 750.00 per day



All rates are inclusive of 4 persons, electricity and VAT. Maximum 6 persons per unit. Extra persons - R110 per day inclusive of bedding. Bedding is included but towels can be provided at an extra costs. Units can be serviced daily by prior arrangement.



Enjoy a relaxed atmosphere with beautiful surrounding, numerous adventure and leisure activities with river and sea water sports can be enjoyed. Besides being well protected from the wind, our park is exceptionally child safe. In its unique surrounding, Areena Riverside Resort nestles deep in a peaceful natural valley bush veld, along this unique tidal river, which one can enjoy a leisurely cruise on the 40 man Kareena, which is 5km to the mouth, where children and adults alike spend hours fishing, crabbing, canoeing, surfing and swimming. Many of our customers bring motorised boats so that they can enjoy the river and go to the beach or deepsea. By car, the beaches are a mere four minute drive away.



We have recently created the Areena Adventure And Leisure Village. Various activities such as Abseiling, Mountain Bike trails, Hiking Trails, Quadbiking safaris, Paintball, Archery and Surf School can all be arranged. Areena forms part of the popular "Wild Coast Jikeleza Route". We also have a large split level swimming pool, tennis court, 3 trampolines and a fully licensed Restaurant and Pub with big screen TV and a-la-carte menu, conference facilities, volleyball area, as well as a kiddie's playground, and much, much more. Over and above this we have marked out canoe and nature trails, where you can wander amongst various species of buck, zebra, wildebeest, ostriches and giraffe, as well as a prolific bird life.



An entertainment program is arranged for the Christmas Season, from about the 19th December until about the 3rd January. We do this at Easter as well.
