Tzaneen and Magoebaskloof are the centre of the tropical fruit industry, lush cycad forests surround the realm of the mystical Rain Queen and the traditional homeland of the Venda people. The mountains of Haenertsburg, Magoebaskloof and Agatha are linked via the spectacular Georges Valley which comprises indigenous forests, cascading waterfalls, placid lakes and craggy kloofs.
The mountainous landscape, the subtropical climate, the lush indigenous vegetation which alternates with plantations, and the largely unspoilt natural environment, make this picturesque area one of the most attractive recreation and tourist areas in South Africa.
West from Polokwane and Bela-Bela, the province boasts the magnificent Waterberg range. It stretches from Thabazimbi to the Lapalala river. This is Africa at its best, the rolling terrain is ideal for exploring on horseback. Marakele National Park and Lapalala Wilderness area should not be missed.
