Pleasant Places Guest House **** South African Bed and Breakfast accommodation
Lidgetton, Howick, The Midlands, Kwazulu Natal

a place to stroll and to gaze, a place of peace, of quiet reflection, a place to browse, listen to music, to eat and to sleep.
Some people come to Pleasant Places for the peace and quiet, some to reward themselves with fine food after a vigorous day’s walking, but whatever the reason, they end up staying for more than just a day! Pleasant Places is a haven where the sights and smells of everything good about this area come together… Be yourself here... there are no airs and graces, just good humour, good manners, with food and wine aplenty.

The thatched accommodation comprises four double en-suite bedrooms and a Family Unit with two double en-suite bedrooms. All rooms have tea and coffee-making facilities, heaters and hair driers, are individually decorated and have separate entrances. TV's on request for SA TV in rooms; DSTV programs can be viewed in our lounge. Laundry, telephone, fax, email and computer available. Our venue is ideal for small tour groups visiting the area.

Number 7: so named because our house in Johannesburg was No. 7 and, including our private bedroom, we have 7 bedrooms. This intimate room has a panoramic view across the valley from the bed or private patio.Guests staying in this room are usually late in for breakfast as they battle to get out of bed and leave the view.

The Room with a View : a large hexagonal-shaped room with deep terracotta-coloured walls, private patio with a magnificent view over the river below and valley beyond; even the loo has a view.

The Camellia Room: this room has just recently had a major revamp with a new bathroom, including a super shower. It has been entirely redecorated with new carpets, curtains and beds. Underfloor heating has also been installed in the bedroom as well as the bathroom. Come and see and enjoy the luxury! Named after the beautiful Camellia bushes outside the entrance. It has a large bay window in which you can sit, relax, read or do your make-up and enjoy the beauty of the garden. Access to the garden is via the recently installed French doors.

The Family Unit (formerly The Cottage): as with the Camellia Room, this unit has just undergone a major revamp and now has underfloor heating, old Oregon floor have been resurrected and been totally redecorated, right down to sandstone tiles in the bathrooms. Each bedroom has its own entrance and ablution facilities. A lobby, with couch, TV and tea making facilities separates the two bedrooms for added privacy. There is a small private garden section for added privacy. There are NO self-catering facilities in The Family Unit.

Our Guest Book is filled with compliments about our food, but, to be honest, its’ far better to eat the food at Pleasant Places than read about it, save to say that Linda and her kitchen devotees deserve the Chef’s Hat emblem recently awarded…they covet happy diners and their empty plates.
The wines are pretty good too, with a selection of lesser known, yet very fine wines at prices you won’t believe.
