Gateside Guesthouse is set in the heart of the tranquil Hilton Village only 10 kms from Pietermaritzburg. Luxury accommodation is offered, with scrumptious health & English breakfasts served on the deck of the main house. The units have breathtaking views across the green pastures and dam with our local Table mountain in the background. Both Hilton College and St. Anne's private schools are close by & we are at the entrance to the Midlands Meander.We also provide a midway stopover for holidaymakers visiting the Drakensberg mountains or the beautiful coastline of our province, Kwazulu-Natal.

Units have own lounge/dining/kitchenette areas & come with fireplaces or heaters.All include DSTV(commercial bouquet),wireless internet, fans, hair-dryers, electric blankets, hospitality fridges & teatrays.The self-contained nature of the units gives us the flexibility to offer you both B&B and self-catering accommodation options.

Guests can relax by the saltwater swimming pool or enjoy a barbecue in the spacious garden. There is also a trampoline for the youngsters.

Pietermaritzburg's airport(Oribi), is only 15kms away while Durban, which has an International airport, is only 50 minutes' away & we can arrange transfers on request.

Gateside Guesthouse comprises of two family units (sleeping 4 persons) and a further unit which can be either for a family or made up as two double rooms. Secure parking is available onsite.

The Big Studio is a ground floor, open plan room comprising of twin beds (which can be converted to a King-size double bed), lounge/dining/kitchenette area with a gas fireplace. Bathroom en-suite has shower, toilet and wash basin.

The Small Studio (ground floor) is a double bedroom with bathroom ensuite being shower and wash basin with separate toilet.

The Studio units have an inter-leading door and is ideal for conversion into a family unit.

Treetops (1st floor) is a cosy loft style family unit having Queen size bed, two single beds, lounge, dining & kitchenette area. Bathroom ensuite has both shower and Victorian bath. Wall heaters for those chilly evenings. 

Tiny Gateside is a 2-bedroomed cottage: main bedroom with Queen size bed & a smaller children's bedroom with 2 single beds.The sittingroom has traditional Victorian fire-place, & this leads onto the dining/kitchenette area. Bathroom en-suite with shower over bath.There is a private veranda on which to sit & enjoy those magnificent views.

Activities available & attractions within our area: troutfishing,mountainbiking, hiking, bird,game & nature reserves, several golf courses, Karkloof Canopy Tours, Anglo-boer war memorabilia, museums, visiting historical Pietermaritzburg, healthspas, casino, tenpin bowling. The Midlands Meander is a beautiful drive through local countryside with numerous arts & crafts venues, coffee shops & great restaurants. We are in touch with a number of tour guides who offer a variety of trips which can be tailor-made to a single person or groups.

There are also some major events in our local calendar where you can either spectate or participate!: the Comrades marathon, the Midmar Mile(largest open water swim), Hill to Hill cycle race, Amashovashova cycle race, the Duzi canoe marathon & the Hilton Arts Festival.

If there is a "full house" of 4 persons (over age 12) booked per unit,a tariff is charged as a flat rate of R880 per night.

Stays of 4 nights or longer attract a discount.

Children under 12 years: half price.
